Questions About Massage

The Palms Wellness Studio offers two styles of massage: Swedish and Deep Tissue.

Swedish massage is one of the most common (and popular) massage techniques. It aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension. It also helps stimulate nerves and increase blood flow.

Deep Tissue massage uses similar techniques as Swedish massage, but there is more pressure applied. This type of massage facilitates healing by releasing contracted areas of muscle and tissue. It helps increase blood flow and may help reduce inflammation.

When booking your appointment, please tell your practitioner which style you would prefer. During the massage, if something hurts or feels uncomfortable, tell your practitioner right away so they can find the right pressure for you.

Overall, Swedish massage is gentler than Deep Tissue massage and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. It can be useful for those who sit or remain in the same position for extended periods of time.

Deep Tissue massage is best suited for athletes, runners and people with injuries. It can also work for people with chronic conditions, such as lower back pain.

Please tell your practitioner which style you would prefer before your massage begins. During the massage, if something hurts or feels uncomfortable, tell your practitioner right away so they can find the right pressure for you.

It is important to drink lots of water after a Deep Tissue massage to help flush lactic acid out of your tissues. Feeling sore the next day is a sign that your body lacks hydration. However, it is possible that you may feel some soreness the next day even if you do drink water. This means your muscles are still flushing out excess water. Keep drinking water and take a warm bath. The soreness should pass within a few days or so.

Questions About Facials

  1. Pre-cleanse (removing your makeup)
  2. Cleanse
  3. Exfoliation
  4. Serum & hydrating mask
  5. Facial & décolleté massage with organic coconut oil
  6. Rubber masque
  7. Arm massage
  8. Finishing touches include toner, serum, eye cream, oil, moisturizer (and sunscreen if its daytime)

Our practitioner will remove your makeup prior to the facial. We recommend you avoid wearing heavy makeup on the day of your appointment, as it may be difficult to remove.

We suggest booking your facial two weeks before the big event. This is in case your skin does not react well to the ingredients used during the treatment.

We only use natural skincare products formulated for sensitive skin. Brands include Sulwhasoo Eminence and Yonka.

The skin is a living organism, just like any other organ in the body. It takes about 30 days for cells to move up from dermis to the surface, or epidermis, where they flatten out and die. Giving your skin a boost every 30 days is what your skin needs to look its best!

Right after a facial, your pores are more open than normal and therefore more susceptible to bacteria. If possible, try not to wear makeup right after your facial.

Please avoid waxing just prior to a facial as it heightens skin sensitivity before and after a facial spa treatment.

You should avoid hitting the gym after your facial for about 24 hours, as you might overstimulate the skin due to sweating and increased circulation.

Please wear sunscreen to protect your skin after a facial! If you spend time in the sun without good protection, you can get sun damage, which can negate the positive effects of a facial treatment.
